Speed Intraproc: Quicker to your ID card

„Do-it-yourself“ when applying for ID card and passport: This is what the innovative self- service terminal by Speed Intraproc does. Biometric data, photos, fingerprints and signature are captured by the citizens themselves – quickly, easy, and cost efficient.

The so called Speed Capture Station is being successfully used in the cities of Siegburg and Göttingen in Germany. Several hundred citizens have used the terminal already, only shortly after the introduction in Göttingen. „The application can be done much faster“, explains Christian Hampe of the Citizen Registration Office in the City of Göttingen.

Speed Intraproc is a joint venture between Intraproc and the Swedish manufacturer Speed Identity. Speed Identity is a known supplier for solutions for passport photographs and is today one of the leading providers of live capturing solutions for biometric data for government documents as well as for corporate requirements.

CardsAsia 2012: Extra large in Singapore

From April 25 through April 27 the central topic in the Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre is the card: Decision makers from all over the world are meeting at Cards Asia 2012. The Intraproc team will also be there to present some of our products.

The focus of our presentation at the booth of our partner Paclin this year will be the XXL printer: With this unit, it is very easy to print large size credentials. These XXL cards are easily recognized – for maximum security it is also possible to integrate a watermark.

Song Contest: Our big star for Baku

At this year´s Eurovision Song Contest in Azerbaijan, Germany will be represented by Roman Lob. The 21-year-old enters the race in Baku with his song „Standing Still“. For the accreditation of artists, journalists and technicians, XXL cards will be used, personalized with our XXL printers.

Our partner DECA Card Engineering GmbH supplies the complete system for this mega event. The XXL cards do not only secure the access, they are also used for payment in the catering area of the show.

„The XXL cards have been used successfully in numerous large scale events, from motor sports through rock concerts“, explains Peter Alpmann, Managing Director with Intraproc. Last year, around 125 million people followed the Eurovision Song Contest on TV.

Düsseldorf Panthers: The winning card

It is the American Football club with the longest tradition in Europe – the Düsseldorf Panthers. Since 1978 they fight for each „Touchdown“. And they do it with a lot of success: Already six times they won the German championships, and they were also able to bring home the Eurobowl Champion title.

When the fans are enjoying the games, Intraproc is also part of the excitement: We are supplying the current season cards for the games of the Düsseldorf Panthers. Both ISO size cards as well as XXL cards, perfect for large sports events, are being used.

Zebra P430i card printer for University ID card printing

The University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) is renowned as a leading technology innovator. Every term 6000 new student ID cards are printed at the Duisburg and Essen sites, as well as numerous ones for visitors and staff. The UDE chose Zebra Technologies to develop an innovative, customised card printing solution.

At the start of each term 6000 first-year students enrol at the UDE. This used to pose a logistical challenge for the enrolment department twice a year, from creating the cards, to printing and distributing them to the students.
In order to make this process more efficient and obtain further application options, the university implemented a solution that used Zebra P430i card printers.

The UDE’s technology provider implemented a customised ID & payment card solution. A team of five experts spent nine months working on adapting cards and printers exactly to the University’s requirements. “We had numerous discussions which allowed us to establish the University of Duisburg-Essen’s requirement and then develop an innovative, customised total solution accordingly,” explains Johannes Kohlen, system consultant, InterCard. The cards were designed for different applications.

Printer quality was a decisive factor which is why the Zebra P430i card printer was chosen. “It is capable of carrying out highly complex print jobs and can accept direct commands. During the print run you can slow down or even stop printing the cards. Their robustness and the quality of the results were further crucial factors in favour of using Zebra printers,” said Johannes Kohlen,
The printers were configured so that they could print different information with pinpoint accuracy, not to mention double-sided and fully customised for the user. Integrated network and coding options are ideal for printing contactless smart cards. The P430i can output up to 130 cards an hour.

Apart from producing student ID cards, the aim was also to produce library, staff and visitor ID cards equipped with a payment facility. Cashless payment was intended to make transactions easier wherever students were located, whether in the canteen, by the drinks machine, photocopier, or even when using washing machines in the halls of residence.
The Zebra P430i card printers met the University’s requirements exactly by enabling printing and personalisation of all ID cards on site. The cards do not contain any personal details other than the person’s name and the card number.
These new multifunctional student ID cards have been used by the UDE since the start of 2011. Thanks to an integrated chip function, they can even be used as a travel pass. In addition to existing functions of student ID, library and canteen usage, payment facility for printing and photocopying, users can conveniently deploy them for travelling on buses and trains throughout the entire North Rhine-Westphalia region.
“We have used this solution to introduce an innovative system that can have extra features added,” explains Ludwig Ciesielski, Director of Enrolment and Examinations, UDE. “Our university is a pioneer of innovation as well when it comes to the e-ticket (elctronic ticket). This was the first project in Germany where an electronic student ID card was combined with the e-ticket.” “Another unique feature of the card is that it is valid for four years. This is certainly an important factor for us as a university in terms of cost-efficiency, but not only for us,” explains Ludwig Ciesielski, “Students benefit from this too as they just have a single ID card for the duration of their studies.”
This has been a resounding success, as the UDE is using around 36,000 chip cards including staff ID cards as well as cards for guest users of the university’s library.
According to Ludwig Ciesielski “The new card system is an investment for the future. The university migrated to the new techology without a hitch. The students have fully embraced the technology. The new ID cards have been accepted 99%. That is certainly unique.”
The UDE is leading the way by implementing this card printing solution. In addition other universities are also interested in producing ID cards with the Zebra P430i printer. More than 100 universities and colleges are already equipped with Zebra printers.

Our sales team has been reinforced: Since October 1st, 2011, Björn Tillemans joined us. The Wholesale and Export Specialist brings with him long years of experience from the card community and is an expert in cards, card printers, etc.

„Sales for me means first of all consulting. Every one of our customers has individual special requirements – and those we want to exactly fulfill with our products“, explains Tillemans. Der 31-year old will focus on looking after new customers and sales partners.

EasyPrinter S3: The new TRW-printer

For TRW rewritable cards the new EasyPrinter S3 is the perfect solution. The powerful printer is the latest generation in Thermo Rewrite technology. Cards with a TRW-surface (for example visitor badges) can be personalized – and updated professionally.

The printing and erasing system of the EasyPrinter S3 offers highest flexibility: Up to 250 times the TRW surface of a card can be erased and be printed with new data. Where necessary, cards can be encoded in the same process. Color ribbons are not necessary for this monochrome technology.

Suitable cards for this Rewritable Technology are cards with blue or black TRW-foil in a strength from 0,2 to 1,0 mm. The new EasyPrinter S3, which is also available as an OEM module, offers close to 100% electronical and mechanical compatibility with the ClearJet CP2 and CXone TRW printers.

XXL-Printer: Software for Double Print

The XXL-Printer is our specialist for events of all kinds: In a matter of seconds large size cards can be printed. In order to make the handling even more comfortable, we developed a special version of the IDCARD4 software – with this, XXL Double Prints can be produced even more conveniently.

The IDCARD4 software convinces with an easy, manual data input via a user friendly mask. Via OLE-DB external data bases such as Oracle or MS-SQL can be integrated. Various selection possibilities for the batch production result in quick processing of large amounts of cards.

Convenient tools such as the preview function complete the features of this special IDCARD4 Version for the XXL-printer. As the software is programmed by our in-house specialists, we are able to react quickly and are very flexible with regard to our customers´ individual requirements.

From Las Vegas to Dubai: We were there

The new year started with a number of large exhibition events: The International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas was the first one to hit off. From January 10 through 13, 2012 we presented here with our partner KG Digital our range around XXL cards.

After that we had to split up our team: From January 15 through 17 the Intersec exhibition, the largest security related show in the Middle East took place in Dubai. Here Intraproc presented their XXL printer amongst other items – together with our partner epm.

At the same time, the international photographer´s community met in New Orleans: At the Imaging USA, the largest exhibition for photo equipment in North America, we presented together with our partner KG Digital, how quickly and easily XXL cards with photographs can be produced – and saw a lot of interest here as well.
